A truck accident that left a man with a serious spinal injury has resulted in an award of $23.5 million from a jury.
The accident was between two semi trucks in New Mexico in March of 2006. The lawsuit alleged that the driver of one of the trucks was negligent in backing the truck up onto the highway from a rest stop. The lawsuit was filed by a truck driver and his wife. The driver was in the sleeping area of the 2nd truck. The man’s injuries occurred when he was thrown from the sleeper area of the cab when the trucks collided. The driver of the second truck died in the accident.
The jury awarded $19.5 million to the driver and $4 million to his wife for loss of consortium. The judge then reduced the award to $15.3 million beause the driver of the second truck as found to have been 35% at fault.
In the trial, evidence was presented that showed tht the driver that was at fault had methamphetamines in her system at the time of the accidet, had a history of drug use, had failed her commercial driver’s license exam multiple times, and had only been driving for 6 months.

“Lacy”, an 83 year old man of legal name of 83 years old, was released from jail after what many are calling “Just an accident.”
During the Overton parade there was an accident involving Lacy and his vehicle.Neighbors can imagine that it was on purpose, thinking that perhaps the old man pushed on his gas pedal instead of his brake in a panic.
The families of the victims of the accident held a prayer meeting last night, and are shocked that the county police let Lacy go after what happened at the parade.
Truck accidents are usually severe when they occur, so remember when driving a large vehicle to be extra vigilant.

The driver of a beer delivery truck that overturned on I-70 in Colorado has since been arrested and charged with drunk driving.
The accident occurred when the truck was attempting to enter I-70 via an onramp. Unfortunately, the truck overturned and blocked the onramp for a couple of hours. The truck was attempting to deliver Coors beer from the brewery when it flipped.
In addition to alcohol, police suspect that the driver was going too fast around a curve that is part of the onramp. Because it is such a sharp curve, the truck could easily have rolled if it was going too quickly.
The driver of the truck was not injured and none of the beer escaped its containers. To right the truck, the beer was off-loaded onto anoter truck. The highway entrance was closed until midnight the day of the accident. Drivers were forced to detour to get around the accident in order to use the highway.
